The July 9, 2012 Series was approached in an automatism technique I use frequently in drawing and in painting. I taped all five 18 x 24" water color papers in a row at about eye-level. I started from the 1st paper(from left) making random long 1/2 inch rounded brush strokes of thick black ink with circles. I numbered the sheets on the bottom left corner to keep them in order in case some fall due to aggressive brush work. I then started shadowing the black brush strokes with the same 1/2 inch rounded brush dipped in gray acrylic and tempera mix . After, in layers, I added the different colors( gold, brown, sky blue, yellow and red) in order from left to right with each different color. In between the layers of color I used red and black...
