In this series I had in mind how the 20th Century art critic Clement Greenberg described Jackson Pollock's art before the "drip paintings" in the book "Pollock" by Leonhard Emmerling-2003-Pg. 54- "...he did not mean the term "Gothic" reference to historically late medieval architecture and art..."Gothic" was intended metaphorically, to describe what Greenberg saw as the raw, harsh nature of Pollock's art." I approached the series in a minimalistic mindset to capture maximum emotion using only a limited pallet and charcoal drawing. I let each piece determine when I should abandon it to show the ‘raw and harshness’ of the emotions I wanted to appear.
